University of Miami Collaboration Agreement

19 August 2016

Based on the existing collaboration between the University of Miami and the Yucatan Government through the Heuristic IT Innovation Center, we approached UM for assistance in the planning process of Zenciti: a development that capitalizes on the resources of  “Parque  Científico Tecnológico de Yucatán” to create a “smart city” featuring a specialized information technology cluster inside an urban community with mixed-use residential and commercial neighborhoods, a hospital, schools, a STEM University and all the amenities needed for creating a healthy, productive and sustainable environment.

The aim was for UM to provide the complete range of services needed for the planning process but only after completing an initial study in a manner that is satisfactory to all parties involved developing a concept for Zenciti that moves from the general framework outlined by the client to a well-defined and unique vision.

The concept will include specifics on the following: assessment of development opportunities; regional planning; master-plan; urban morphology; ecology; landscape; architecture; transportation; infrastructure; smart services; smart lifestyle; sustainability and resilience; implementation scenarios; and projections of future growth.
